Your Zakat al-Fitr & Zakat

Zakat al-Fitr

One of the obligations for Muslims during Ramadan is to give Zakat al-Fitr. This beautiful Islamic duty is not only so the poor have food for the day of Eid, but also to purify us from the sins we commit in Ramadan.

Don’t delay – you can give your Zakat al-Fitr here online right now, to ensure it reaches the needy in time for Eid.

Ibn Abbas reported:

“The Prophet ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr compulsory so that those who fasted may be purified of their idle deeds and shameful talk (committed during Ramadan), and so that the poor may be fed. Whoever gives it before (Eid) Salah will have it accepted as Zakat, while he who gives it after the Salah has given Sadaqah.”

We recommend at least £7 per person, which can then be used to provide food for the poor and needy in time for Eid – for this to work, please pay well before the end of Ramadan!

It needs to be given on behalf of every member of a family, young and old. So, a family with two parents and two children would give 4 x £7, i.e. £28. If you can be more generous, then even better!

After fulfilling this, don’t forget your Zakah and Sadaqa  for Ramadan.

We can collect your Zakat al-Fitr, and ensure it goes to the poor and needy by partnering with UK Muslim charities.
