About this event
- 2 hours
On Monday 24th June 2024, we will be launching and having an opening ceremony for our new Muslim Village HUB in Nottingham.
What is Muslim Village?
We started our Muslim Village project to provide culturally-safe support to Muslim families from pregnancy to the first years of life. Muslim Village promotes conscious motherhood and attachment parenting, breastfeeding and embracing one’s culture whilst offering a range of free services.
Muslim Village is made up of Muslim mothers and volunteers in the UK, who have lived experience of navigating maternity and postnatal care in the UK that isn’t always inclusive of their cultrual identity and/or faith. The project is run by volunteers who understand your needs and help you get through pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding and motherhood, whilst holding on to your culture and faith.
Our volunteers are passionate and understand the needs of the Muslim community. They’re dedicated to transforming pregnancy, postpartum and breastfeeding experiences into something beautiful. We all want mothers and families to receive maternity and perinatal that is informed and understandable. We want them to feel safe and comfortable navigating this time in a culturally-inclusive space.
About Nottingham Stay & Play
We’re so excited to be launching our new face-to-face project for Muslim mums in Nottingham, Stay & Play Group. This group is an informal session in Hyson Green Family Hub’s lovely breastfeeding room where Muslim mums can come to:
- Get support with breastfeeding and early parenting
- Socialise with other mums
- Feel part of a community
- Learn about healthcare available for them, including infant feeding and mental health
- Feel safe to openly talk about challenges they’re having in an inclusive environment
- Get evidence-based guidance whilst maintaining their faith and culture
We would like to invite everyone to this event, whether you’re a mother or a healthcare professional supporting families. You will be able to meet our founders, and volunteers as well as speak to Muslim families in Nottingham.
