About this event

Come and join us in the Kent Downs National Landscape. With 326 square miles of nationally protected landscape, stretching from the towering chalk face of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover to the Surrey and London border. There is so much to discover in this unique landscape, from rolling countryside, picturesque villages and a heritage coastline.

For this event we will start at the magnificent White Cliffs of Dover overlooking the English Channel. The route will take in the Victorian South Foreland Lighthouse, looked after by the National Trust, with the opportunity to explore and go up to the top of the Lighthouse. There will be a rest stop at St Margaret’s Bay, a secluded shingle beach, which will provide a quiet and peaceful pause for lunch and prayers. There will be access to toilets as well as an opportunity to purchase ice creams and hot drinks.

The return journey will walk through the Wanstone Battery, a World War Two site of huge importance that is currently being excavated by a team of National Trust volunteers, and is not typically open to visitors. The group will have the chance to explore this site and ask questions of local guides.

If you wish to extend your stay in the area, there are also several great experiences in the region. Find out more at www.kentdowns.org.uk/up

This is a fantastic chance to meet likeminded hikers & adventurers from across the country and enjoy a scenic social trek as part of a professionally organised event with qualified mountain guides.

All are welcome regardless of religious background or ability. Whether you’re a seasoned mountaineer or a first time walker, we invite you to join us as we hike one of the best coastal walks in the country.
