Is the relationship between Islam and Britain truly defined by conflict — or is that a narrative worth challenging?
At a time when global tensions are often framed as clashes of values, many ask: Are Islamic principles compatible with British society? Can faith and modern democratic ideals coexist?
This event offers an open and thought-provoking exploration of these questions. Through expert speakers and interactive discussion, we will examine historical roots, address modern misunderstandings and explore practical pathways to peaceful coexistence. We will also highlight how Islamic teachings uphold justice, freedom of belief, compassion, loyalty and mutual respect — values deeply rooted in democratic tradition.
Hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association UK, the event reflects a long-standing commitment to peace and service. It will also showcase the historic interfaith legacy of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Woking, which has fostered dialogue and understanding within the wider British community for nearly a century.
The Ahmadiyya community is the longest established Muslim community in England starting in Woking a century ago. The past few years have uncovered some groundbreaking history about the spread of Islam in England to be covered at this event.
This is not about debate for the sake of division, it is about understanding. The programme will feature:

- Interactive discussion with members of the public
