Recent and ongoing events in Palestine have left Muslims worldwide feeling helpless and frustrated. The pressing concern is why the Ummah is in such a weakened state globally. As we witness the struggles of our brothers and sisters, we urgently need a unified, strategic and spiritually grounded response.

🎙️ Speakers
Mohammed Hijab
Mohammed Hijab is an author, comparative-religionist and philosopher of religion. He is the co-founder of Sapience Institute and is a researcher and instructor for the organisation. He has a BA in Politics and master’s degree in History from Queen Mary University.
He has also acquired a second master’s in Islamic Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies. Hijab has also completed a third master’s degree in Applied Theology from the University of Oxford where he focussed on the Philosophy of Religion in applied settings.
In addition, Mohammed Hijab has undergone formal training in Islamic studies, with a focus on the Qur’an, Prophetic traditions, and legal reasoning. Mohammed Hijab has completed Islamic seminary courses and been given formal permission to relay Islamic knowledge on selected Islamic fields.
Shaykh Ammar Shinqiti
Shaykh Ammar Ely Salem al Shinqeeti, a classically trained Mauritanian scholar, is the Principal of Salik Society. He has dedicated decades to studying under the guidance of pre-eminent scholars in Mauritania, such as Shaykh Muhammad Faal and Shaykh Muhammad Salem Addoud, memorising all the major texts of every branch of Islamic knowledge, including the seven books of Hadith.
Shaykh Ammar is a member of the International Union of Islamic Scholars and a Professor of Islamic Legal Theory (Usūl) and Maxims (Qawa’id) at As-Salam Institute. He is also a Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence at the European Institute for Human Sciences and serves as the Senior Imam of Muslim Welfare House Mosque in London. His work focuses on reviving traditional Islamic scholarship, particularly the Maliki School of Jurisprudence.
Shaykh Ammar is the only English-speaking Mauritanian scholar who can teach Islamic Sciences at the highest level. He is fluent in Arabic, French, English, and Spanish allowing him to educate a diverse global audience.
Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud
Shaykh Mohammed Mahmoud, a London-based scholar and Imam, studied Shari’ah in the UK under a number of esteemed scholars after earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology from University College London (UCL).
Serving as the Senior Imam at the Muslim Welfare House Mosque, Finsbury Park (2011-2018) and the East London Mosque (2018-2023), he provided religious guidance, led Friday sermons, and engaged in interfaith projects.
Currently, Shaykh Mohammed serves as the Shari’ah and Ethics Officer for a UK-based Islamic Finance Institution and co-founded the Salik Society with Shaykh Ammar Shinqeeti, focusing on traditional Islamic sciences and spiritual development.
